how many penductors

how many penductors do you use?

I have a 4 way OM on a sequence reefflow hammerhead pump, and I'm being told I need 4 punductors, does that sound right? JBYN is only using 2 on a 10' tank if I remember correctly.

you have to run the 4 penductors or the back pressure would be unequal on the unit and it wouldnt turn correctly.

Thats what I'm being told.:smokin: So would it be 4 penductors for each outlet of the OM?

I would not use penductors with the Hammerhead pump - the pump needs to be a good pressure rated pump. I am using a PanWorld 200PS to run 2 - 1" penductors on my 185. Actually I have 4 but an actuated ball valve sends the flow to 2 at a time. I went with the actuated ball valve due to the problems with eductors and the OM unit.

It is not just running a eductor on each outlet. part of the problem comes when an outlet is 1/2 way between 2 different outlets, and the reduction of pressure from the sum of the 2 openings at once [as there is a time with the om unit where 2 outputs open at once between stages- the rotor likes to stick in this half way spot with 2 eductor openings] there has been talk about getting one drum model and slightly opening the hole with a dremmel, and other talk about possibly changing the meterial that the drum is made of, alternating the sequence, eductor, open, eductor, open, and more talk The owner at OM is a REALLY good guy [pretty smart too], though does not himself believe in Eductors, if you take my meaning [he has said many times in posts on the OM boards] , all that means [imo] is he doesn't see the point of enginering the OM unit to them, when there are a million other projects he is working on that... there is a way to get the OM to work on eductors, though it takes work.. and it is not a set and forget type of a deal. i have my 4 way that i plan to plumb sometime, but i have not decided if I will use eductors or not...

go to the om boards and search for "eductor" penductor is a type of eductor, andpenductor won't turn up much on the OM search boards

and yes. you need a pressure rated pump .. the bare MIN is a Model 50PX / Iwaki MD30 Pressure - but since the flow wiht be split between partials 50% of the time- get a pump in the range of the panworld 150PS - Iwaki MD55

FWIW JBNY does not have only 2 penductors...

from his page..
"Return/circulation pump: Sequence 6000SEQ23
Circulation UPS: Tripplite APS512 Power Inverter/Charger 95AH Deep Cell Battery
Circulation: (2) 3/4 Sea Swirl
Circulation Powerheads: (1) Max-Jet 1200
Circulation Powerheads: (1) Tunze Turbelle Stream 6110
Circulation Powerheads: (1) Rio Seio 820
"

2 do a lot. but as this is 225 gallon sps, i would personally put 4 as a min.
