How many Power Heads?

This might seem basic but, I just want to do things right the first time. I'm building a 50 gallon SeaClear tank which is 36"Wx15"Dx20"H. I'm planing an eheim 2000 Pump to move water up from the sump. I have read not to count the return as flow, but it will be moving 250-500GPH and I'm looking to have as little in the tank as possible. I suspect I will be using Koralia Evolution heads so what are your suggestions? They come in 600,850,1150,1500GPH. I'm also reading I should cover it in foam to keep inverts out?. Thanks in advance!

It will depend on how you setup your rockwork. Maybe 2 smaller heads just to prevent any dead spots for build up to form.

OK, so I'll buy 2 and use one to mix salt etc in my garbage can and add to tank if needed. What size should I be going with?

Im not too familliar with the brand. I aim for 25X overturn an hour so for a 50 id go with the 2 600's. If the model is adjustable Id get the larger ones and dial them down.

more power heads the better i would go with two if you want to do thing properly just get a cheap pump to mix the salt save on messing around

There is a such thing as too much flow. You dont want to stir up sand. I bought a powerhead that was way to strong for my first 46g. Was throwing fish acrossed the tank and what not lol. Newb mistake
