How many urchins?

I have a 30 gal SW tank. I have a Longspine Urchin. I'd love to have another if my tank would support it. Will it? My urchin gazes, but I do supplement with seaweed.

I've had a Diadema (long spine urchin) in a 15 gal for 4 years because it was destructive in my reef. I feed it seaweed and even meaty foods and it seems fine. Once when i did not feed it for a week, it overtook a smaller urchin and chewed through its shell, eating it alive.

You could probably put another in the tank if you feed enough, but if they are like mine, anything slower than them will not be safe.

Thanks...mine has not been destructive at all...so far. Then again...I don't have much in my tank..

urchins are not reef safe

Some Urchins are reef safe, I keep a pincushion urchin and a tuxedo urchin in my mixed reef with no problems. I have heard that long spine urchins and pencil urchins are NOT reef safe however.
