thanks jeff

50 gallon mixed reef, sps and zoanthid dominated. Using Rand's two part. 24ml Ca, 26ml alk per day.

I add 90-100ml per day of Ca and Alk supplements from Bulkreef, along with Lime water top-off, to my 90 gallon mostly SPS mixed reef

300-400ml per day, but I've got a lot of full size colonies.. I use an ATO for my alk so it's replaced steadily throughout the day, no idea how much.

Randy's two part- 60ML day CA 60ML day ALK 1.25 cups of MG once both gallons of solution are finished. 100gl tank, around 130gl total water volume.

You know, after reading everyone's dosages I'm gonna have to recheck a few things on my tank. I may have to find a way to incorporate MG into the daily mix.

Heres what gets me, Randy states to add the MG AFTER finishing both gallons first:

Recipe #2, Part 3A

Dissolve Epsom salts (3 cups) and magnesium chloride hexahydrate (5 cups) in enough purified freshwater to make 1 gallon total volume. There will likely be a precipitate that forms even if you fully dissolve both ingredients separately. That precipitate is calcium sulfate (calcium as an impurity in the magnesium chloride and sulfate from the Epsom salts). It is fine and appropriate to dose the precipitate along with the remainder of the fluid by shaking it up before dosing.

This solution is added much less frequently than the other two parts. Each time you finish adding a gallon of both parts of Recipe #2, add 305 mL (1 ¼ cups) of this stock solution. You can add it all at once or over time as you choose, depending on the aquarium's size and set up. Add it to a high flow area, preferably a sump. In a very small aquarium, or one without a sump, I suggest adding it slowly.

The first time it's added, I recommend adding just a small portion and making sure there isn't any problem (such as corals closing up due to stress) before adding the remainder. Make sure corals and other organisms don't get blasted with locally high concentrations of the main ingredients or impurities, or else they may become stressed. This solution contains about 47,000 ppm magnesium, 70,000 ppm sulfate and 86,000 ppm chloride.

and the line after what you highlighted.

You can add it all at once or over time as you choose

Apparently criutters arent as sensative to Mg fluctuations. Each tank is different and had different needs, but you know this. Apparently I'm using a bit more Mg than what the dosing scheme is stated for, but I also havent quite got the Mg nailed down yet as far as dosing. I test every week and adjust my dosing if necessary. Ca and Alk have been spot on for awhile. Mg I have to go without every so often to let it come back down.

I use kent marine and it says to use 2 capfuls for 50 gl,i have a 50gl mixed reef,lps,6rbtas,zoos,and a few sps.I cant get my Ca,Alk,Mg up.I do 5gl weekly water changes and dose the two part 2-3 times a week.Should i add an extra capful or just add daily? Thanks in advance.

I dose about 80ml of both ca/alk on a 75gal tank with 3/4 SPS and 1/4 LPS/softies. I make a gallon of Mg and dose about a 1/4 of the jug every week or so, as I go through about a gallon of each ca/alk every month or two.
