How much do you feed your tangs?

I have 2-4" tangs, one sailfin and one purple, when i feed them nori they will keep eating if i keep putting more on the clip, they will dominate a 4"x4" piece of nori in about 1 minute, i feed 1 time per day, after my bio pellets take hold i want to feed 2 times per day, i also feed formula 1 and formula 2. How much nori do you feed your tangs?

When I used to have a powder blue, sailfin, and yellow I gave them about a 3x3 inch piece of nori at least once a day and sometimes twice. They would eat every last bit within a couple minutes. I fed them mainly NLS pellets and frozen mysis, so the nori was only supplemental.

Now that I only have an achilles, I give him a 3x3 inch sheet every day and he eats it in a couple hours. Since he doesn't like to eat prepared foods and relies more on nori I make sure he always gets enough nori to keep him full.

I feed mine as much as it will eat unless I have algae in the tank. If they become accustomed to nori, then they will not graze as much. Of course don't feed too much that water quality diminishes.

I hate thin tangs. Fat tangs are awesome. In the wild, they look almost like vertically stretched footballs.

I feed 3 times a day. New life spectrum pellets 2 times a day through an auto feeder, then at night nori, and a variety of other things. Smaller tangs seem to reach a point when they get somewhat 'full' and their aggressiveness towards food slows down a little for that meal. Once they get large they just seem like a bottomless pit. I've been bitten half a dozen times putting in/taking out the algea clip by my manrovia tang, naso tang, orange shoulder tang, and yellowfin tang. The bite didn't hurt, they were just expecting nori instead of my finger

Tangs are grazers and feed all day on the reef and their main food is low in protein. If you're talking veggies, IMO, its almost impossible to over-feed them. I think they meaty foods they get as part of a captive diet helps a lot too. In the wild, they get a lot of meaty little inverts along with all the algae. This isn't the case with nori. I know some tanks support enough algae, and other life, to support some tangs with very little outside help---but this is rare. I agree with the above post by Outrebank, keep them fat.

I feed my blue tang once to twice a day. I rotate between PE mysis, Nori, lettuce, and NLS pellets. She keeps on eating, and I sometimes wonder what her limit is!

I feed my 400g tank 5x day, completely varied diet, but I always place a 3" wad, yes, wad, of nori coupled with a gel based food that the folks at American Reef do. Tang-wise, I have 4x Achilles, 1 PBT, 1 PT, and 1 YT. Now my tank is very mature with a heavy cleaner crew, so I've never had WQ issues at that feeding level.

My 9" AT is a horse as are my Grey Angel and BFA. My little ATs (I have 3 more in there that are between 3-4") have learned from the Big Momma how to chow down.

i have a sailfin, blue hippo, and a yellow tang in an 80 gal display- 110 gal total system and i feed them a mixture of ocean nutrition formula one pellets and fresh grape calurpa from my fuge that needs to be pruned daily.

You cant feed them to much lol as long as you dont taint your water with all those nutrients. jpanda has a gem tang thats probably is 4" wide lol

I feed nls at least twice a day. Pe mysis every other day and a small sheet of nori twice a week. But I only have a 3" mimic tang bicolor blenny watchman goby and black occilaris. All of which eat everything in the tank including nori. I swear the blenny eats more than the tang
