Hello Anthony,
Thank you for all of your efforts supporting the hobbyist. I have received some great advice from you and the WWM crew.
My tank is (oh so slowly) progressing toward the day it will actually have saltwater in it! I have a 180G. I am not sure how large my sump will be yet, but I plan to do a seperate refugium. It will be fed water from a tee off the sump return line (already skimmed), controlled with a gate valve. Any other feedback on the plumbing plan is welcome too. I want the fuge to have a dsb, some live rock, and lots 'o macro algae. I'd like the fuge to provide food (small critters) to the main tank. My main question - I am trying to decide on an external return pump size and would like to know how many times turnover you recommend for a refugium? If I were to use a 20G refugium, would 400 GPH be way too much? Should I plan on only 200 GPH?
