How Much Flow?

We know that millions of gallons of water flows in the ocean per hour. My question is since we have closed systems, how much flow from powerheads would be Necessary say in a 100 gallon system to create an ocean effect? I would think it would be proportional to some degree. ie 100 gallons with 10000 gallons per hour will create an effect simillar to 1 billion gallons at 10 million gallons per hour(ocean). Whats your thought on this.

What kind of coral do plan to keep? Or are you only going to keep fish? It all depends on what you have. Not everywhere in the ocean gets 10 million gph.

This question is not about what will be put into practice. Just curious if anyone knows the average. Of course different areas of the ocean will have different rates. But I am sure there is an average and just wanted to know how that compares proportinally to what we can feasibly accomplish in an aquarium.

But to answer your question I am currently keeping a mix of SPS, LPS and Softies. I think I am going to switch to all SPS, and I currently have a Tunze 6060 running and am debating on adding another, but this question is seperate from my plans.
