I found a good deal on some live rock and am going to take it. My questoin is how much live rock can I put in a tank at once? This live rock has been in a tank for 10+ years! He broke the tank down and has had it in a tub for a month. He also has a power head and a light over the tub. Is this something that I can just put in the tank all at the same time?

Thanks for the help!

P.S. I bought 35 pounds:p

I have had my tank for a year now and have some fish and coral in it. Is the rock still going to have to cycle? I thought I could get away with it sence it never went without being under watter.?

As long as it was never out of the water I would tend to err to the safety side and keep it covered in water for a few days....check for ammonia and nitrites and if zero then place it in the tank. You would hate to put it in the tank then have to do major water change due to an ammonia spike.

I am pretty sure you will have no issues with rock that is that old. There will not be any real amount of dieoff from a short transport.

Thanks for the help. I'll probley test the watter first  I should have thought of that :sad2: . Well that sure beats loosing my tank. Thanks:bum:
