How much LR for a nano frag prop tank?

I am going to set up a 10g nano for mostly frag propagation. I don't plan to have any fish (unless I need to use it temporarily as a hospital tank) but maybe I'll add a couple of small shrimp or crabs.

It will primarily for growing out soft corals to trade.

So how much live rock would you recommend? I doubt I need the full 1-1.5 lbs/gal since bioload will be so small... would 5lbs be sufficient? Filtration will be a skilter HOB filter and a small internal powerhead for water mvt.

Thanks!

No live rock (kinda). Use some plastic eggcrate/light deflector from home depot and make a shelf. The use live rock rubble and attach said creatures then place it on the shelf. Works quite nicely

The shelf is what I am planning for growing the frags. I will put them on frag disks or maybe 1" tiles. I was just curious how much LR I might need to keep an adequate biological filter.

Some rubble to mount frags to should be enough live rock for a frag tank. My LFS sells discounted rubble so I usually pick up a couple pieces when I'm there. That way there isn't a cycle due to adding too much rock at once.

5 pounds of rubble should be plenty if you're not feeding the tank.

yeah..thats the key

Keep the water clean with water changes and you should be OK. Probably wouldnt hurt to run some carbon either...at least the water will be nice and clear for pics!
