How much sand?

I am planning on upgrading to a larger tank in the neighborhood of 300 gallons when the weather warms up a bit. I was wondering how much sand, if any, people are using in their tanks of similar size.

I am building a 96x24x30 right now and I had the same question yesterday. From what I've read 1.5-2" seems to be about the norm. But you might want 4" if you want to keep some burrowing jawfish or similar.

I decided to start with 200lbs of Bahamian sand.
