How much teaspoons of salt pr liter to get a salinity apr 1.020-1.030?

This conversion calculator may help.

I am assuming this is a inital fill and not trying to raise from .020 to .030.

http://www.reefcentral.com/calc/unit.php

19L=5.01gals

IO is 1/2 cup per gal or .118L pergal=8TBLS=24Tsp

so I would say 2.5 cups or .59L

Mix it in a separate container/bucket. test it. adjust if needed and then add to your tank.

4 tsp's in 5 gallons? theres no way thats right

Most of the time it's 2.5 cups of salt to 5 gals plus or minus ... you should add 2 cups to 5 gals and start from there.

Yes, but he wants to go only from 1.020 to 1.026, not from 1.000 to 1.026 :)

Hi, given that you are in Norway wouldn't it be easier to work it out in grams and litres? Certainly in England we've got no idea what size a standard American cup is, although you can buy them in specialised cook shops. I work out my salt additions in parts per thousand - usually aiming for 33 (natural seawater is 35 I think). I look at however many litres are in my 30l RO container and times that number by 33g. I use a kitchen scale to measure it out. I guess you could do a similar calculation to increase from 1.020 to 1.026 - hydrometers usually have the scale in parts per thousand marked on next to the specific gravity.
