How Much To Feed 7 Small Fish?

Hi All,

How much should I be feeding 7 small fish per day (See fish stock in signature)? Currently I'm feeding once per day, usually a 1/5 to 1/4 of a frozen cube. One day is brine, one day mysis...each feeding with some drops of Selcon and garlic. They all seem happy and healthy, just want to be sure I'm not grossly underfeeding.

Thanks,

how big is this cube 1/5 of the cubes i have seems like nothing, plus dont even know how i would cut it in 5. but maybe the cubes in Canada are bigger than America

I have hikari too, I can't imagine they make them bigger in Canada than the US. Maybe I'm way off with the size, I'll actually measure them shortly. My fish consume all the large bits in under a minute, then it takes them another minute to polish off the small stuff as well. I feed them with the Gyre on. I'm thinking I might step it up to half a cube per day.

i normally feed with gyro off, don't want the food blowing all over the place. i also try to drain as much of the water out as possible. helps keeps nutrients down

That seems really stingy. 5 minutes to clear the food is a good general rule, but...are they pokey in their eating? I have a 3" tang, a 2" clown, and a couple shrimp and use a whole cube of Hikari each feeding...

Wow, I didn't realize it was that long. What do you mean by pokey? They pretty much go crazy to devour it as quickly as possible.

Pokey like slow. The "x minutes to eat" depends a lot on how the fish eat. If there's a fish that just devours food, obviously they will consume much more food than a slow eater that darts back to a cave between bites.
