How often do you feed your eels?

I have been feed my "24 snowflake a couple large cocktail shrimp once a week, sometimes again if it is out and about looking for food. Just curious how much everyone else feeds.

and for snowflake keepers; how thick is your eel? (that's what she said) I saw someone mention there's was the size of a redbull can and mine is maybe half that. (that's what he said)

If your snowflake is 24" then you are underfeeding it. My biggest is around 30inches or so and I would say around a soda can in girth. I have one around 22 inches that is quite a bit slimmer but this is a younger eel. Thery seem to go through a stage when they add the length but not so much girth. The 22" one eats three jumbo shrimp usually in one feeding which would be every four days or so. I alternate between shrimp, crab, octopus, squid, and several different types of fish. Shrimp alone is not a good diet for that eel.

I've never seen a snowflake one the size of a soda can! How old is that one? I'll up feedings and the amount. I would love to see mine get that large, eventually.

i have a black ribbon eel and i feed 3 times a week will he refuses any more. i dont want him wandering out and gettin ginto things that he is not supposed to

Hello, I have a Fimbriated Morey. As mentioned above I mix the diet with any type of fresh seafood available at the supermarket along with keeping small cheap SW fish available in his tank. I watch his behavior to determine how often I feed him. On average he eats small meals every other day. To be more specific I attempt to feed daily but sometimes I forget and others I don't have the time. He will take food if he is hungry if he's not he wont take any. Sometimes he eats an alarming amount and sometimes only a single piece. He also recently would not take anything for almost two weeks but displayed behavior that usually means he's hungry. I am by far no expert. These are the things that work for me. I suppose my advise/comment would be for you to just try everything until you see that your eel is as comfortable as possible.

24'' Zebra lets me know every 5 days that he is still there and wants some food then back to his cave for another 5 days. They will tell you when they want some food, very hard to not see a hungry eel.

I have a snowflake. He is about 18 inches right now, I have had him since august.

Hes about as thick as my middle finger, and he eats 2 whole shrimp EVERY DAY!
He swims all over the tank like its on fire until I feed him. Than he watches the rest of the fish from his favorite hiding spot under some fake stairs....I removed it cause it was cheesy and it wasnt happy so i put it back..

If Snowflakes get popcan Thick I am reaaaly going to have a problem.

They dont make this think any larger (the ornament he sleeps in)

Mine also eats what ever floats past him from the frozen food any time he sees it.
I feed the tank twice a day. My horse shoe crab cleans their "nutrients" off the sand...more like completely

Update:
branched out the diet with some scallops and calamari. Going crazy for them just as much as the shrimp and the other fish are into it, as well. It's also fun to dangle tentacles around the tank

My snowflake is about 33" and size of a soda can around, I have had him for about 9.5 years. He gets fed about every 6 days about 3 shrimp and about twice a month he gets some squid and he is healthly.

I'm hoping mine gets to that size. When would you say it maxed out on size?

I feed my Goldentail 3-4 times a week for a period of time... Weeks to months. Then I am lucky to feed him once a week for as much as months at a time. It lets me know when it's hungry and when it's not.
