I have a Yellow Tang that I have had for at least 16 or 17 yrs. And a Purple Tang that I have had for 6yrs. And you would never guess where I purchased them from PetMart.Of course this was back when they took better care of their systems.

I did a online survey on marine fish longevity a few years back and the average, even for advanced aquarists, was only 6-7 years! This lead to me to believe that there might indeed be something to Simek’s claim that saltwater mixes might have unnaturally high levels of eventually toxic elements…
