How ro remove a clam from a rcok

My clam is stuck to a rock and my pistol and goby keep geeting sand on it. How do I remove it from the rock without hurting it?

It's attached quite well.

I have heard that if you put a powerhead aiming at it, it will remove itself from the rock. The current has to be strong enough to make it want to move, but not so strong as to injure it. Not exactly sure what that means though. It might take a few days for it to release as well, so as always, be patient.

tip the clam to one side so you can see the byssal threads, then take a sharp knife and cut the threads as far away from the clam as you can.

this wont hurt the clam at all because the byssal threads aren't alive, dont have any nerve endings or blood flow

I should be able to cut the threads but I'll be doing so without being able to see them to well as it's in a hard place to get to.
