How small is small?

OK, I can't get a larger tank setup at the moment due to funds.....but I've got to do something to keep myself busy....and I've got pieces and parts laying around from making my 5 gallon.....

I thought I'd try setting up a true pico tank....just to see if it would work. 8"x4"x4". Sump will be the same size.

So far........

Here's the tank with a 20oz Mtn Dew.

A sump is in the works.

Well you sure have got something to keep you busy, and keep us posted on how it goes. DIY stuff is always more fun:) oh, yea, best of luck with the project.

wow FAN!!....you are good at making these little tanks!...that looks great, looking forward to seeing the progress

Ya think 70w MH would be enough? Seriously, I'm not sure of any details on lighting. Probably just a bulb.

If I keep it running for any period of time......
I'm thinking about plumbing this into the fuge of my 5 gallon or my 12 gallon, so I won't have to worry with a heater (hopefully) or topoff (to some degree).

For the short term.....
I'm planning on trying a sump/fuge just to see if it works. I hooked up one of those little $5 pumps that everyone was talking about, and it actually kept up with it. Granted the 'hurricane-like' effect would probably be a bit much on any kind of critters or corals.

I did learn a lesson already. The recommended 24-48 hr wait on Weldon 3 is probably a good idea. I've got to reseal my back wall. :( Oh well, this is just for fun.

Nice, Mark! You gonna light that thing with a halide?

Very nice looking tank!
A 70 watt halide would be more than plenty for that size. I have seen some nice DIY retros of "Brinks" outdoor security lights. The halogen bulb was replaced with a 70 watt halide.

Fresh water top off with a 70 watt halide over the top would be your largest obstacle IMO. That size tank... talk about some easy water changes.

you need a yellow tang in there:lol:

If any fish went in there, it would be a yellowtail damsel... :D
