Hi,
I have a 70 gallon corner acrylic tank. About once a week a get this hard deposit on the acrylic. I have smaller glass tank that i can scrape off with blade, but i know acrylic will scratch. i've been using the kent plastic blades to scrape off the hard algea that builds up.
Is there anything else i can us? Is there something to prevent the build up of the hard algea? I have snails, but they don't seem to be able toeat the hard stuff...It doesn't wipe away with a cloth...
thanks

A soft sponge or acrylic mag-float will do the trick but to reduce algae you have to control nitrites and phosphates.

i've used a soft sponge and that doesn't seem to touch it. The mag-floats that i've seen are not recommended for acrylics.
My nitrates are less then 20, but i' m not too sure about my phosphates....

they make a soft plastic scraper it works great...and there are a teal blue color mag-floats that are for acrylic tanks so they work to....
