How to clean MH lamps?

Obviously I would clean them before they come on, but does anyone have any advice as to what to clean them with?

I am finding some salt residue on them and I would like to keep them as clean as possible. Would a soft cloth and alcohol be a good idea?

I use a weak white vinegar and water solution to clean all crusty items.

That makes sense but what cloth to use on MH bulbs? They are very sensitive.

I wipe them down with water

rubbing alcohol works best in my opinion because it makes sure you dont leave any prints or smugs that will make the bulb go POP prematurely. just use a cotton ball

hmmm, cotton ball...I hadn't thought of that. That's a good idea because evey time you do it it's with a fresh swab.

I just use rubbing alcohol and a paper towel. Works great. I also do the same thing for the reflectors.
