How To Feed Linkia Star Q's

What do you feed to keep your Linkia starfish happy? Are these a generally hardy starfish? How do you offer food to it?

Nonody knows what they eat and they generally don't take to supplemental feeding. It's generally thought that they feed on biofilms that form on hard surfaces. Besides having a large tank with lots of established LR there is no way to ensure they have enough food. For that reason and the fact that they ship poorly and are very sensitive to changes in salinity, they generally do poorly in the hobby. Most don't make it to the 2 year mark, so that's about the minimum time it takes before success can be claimed.

it's also been said that it can take up to 1 1/2 years for one to starve to death.

basically nobody knows what they eat, my lfs tried to sell me one for $5 and i told him no because i know better than that.

I once got mine to consume a freeze dried krill by using a tweezers to place it under the star. It very slowly consumed it. But it was a one time deal - it didn't work on later attempts. I haven't tried it in a good while, but may give it another try the next time the star is accessible.
