Hey guys,

My custom stand is 44" tall and only 16" wide. How can i fix it to the wall without ruining the aesthetics?

Thanks!

Add some L brackets to the beams on the wall to the back of the stand?

There have been a few threads similar to this on RC but they're generally about whether to attach, rather than how to. Since we're in earthquake country, the consensus seems to me not to. Homes move all over the place in earthquakes and while the tank might not survive anyways, if you bolt the stand to the wall it's much more likely to get ripped apart.

My plans aren’t really because of earthquakes. I’m more worried about my Monkey 1 year old trying to climb up a 44” tall stand (16 wide).

I had a similar situation. My 36g bowfront was narrow in depth and I had a toddler running around. I ended up using eye screws and putting them into the studs of the wall. I then used picture frame wire and attached it to the stand with regular screws, tight enough that I was able to reach the eye screws and just kinda fed them in through the small gap of the eye. I tested it out myself a few times and it seemed to do the trick. Luckily my daughter never put it to the test herself, but I was pretty confident it wasn't going to go anywhere. For earthquakes I was planning on just attaching those earthquake straps to the tank and then the wall, but I never got around to it.

Once you have water in it your toddler would have to be the incredible Hulk to budge it.
