How to frag GSP?

So I have some GSP on an odd shaped rock that is spreading at a nice rate and I was wanting to start fragging some. But....I don't know how??! Any help would be appreciated! How do I frag GSP? Especially on weird shaped rocks and at odd angles...

The mat can be peeled off the rock pretty easy most of the time. I have ripped it off of places i didn't want it, and laid the mat on a new rock. it only took a couple days for it to open up like nothing ever happened.

Just slice the purple mat underneath.

Agreed.

Use an exacto knife, or straight razor blade.

Thanks for the replies. This seems easier than I thought it would be! Would you guys recommend using an exacto or razor blade to kind of pry up the beginning of the mat than just try and peel it from there? Or should I just use the exacto all the way through?

And then attaching the frag...should I just use super glue gel as I would anything else?

The Exacto/scalpel/razor cuts, tearing or ripping doesn't. Same result as if it were paper, one is a bit neater. :)

That's about it, both work equally well.

I use super glue gel to attach my frags. I just take up a loose piece of rock and glue the new piece right on. It works great!

Could even rubberband it to rock if its a decent size piece. Will take a couple days to a week to adhere to the rock. For most corals I also use super glue gel for the majority of my frags. I have a large colony of GSP, about 8"x8" and I just peel it back when it needs fragged. One of the easiest corals to frag IMO.

I set rumble on or next to mine the cut it when its grown over. Not as fast a method for sure, but it seems to grow really fast after fragging it.

you dont even have to be gentle when fragging gsp. just cut or rip a piece off and super glue it to a rock or frag. if there is 1 polyp on there then it will begin to spread
