What I do is if the zoa is on a rock, I will use a large kitchen knife and hammer and chop up the zoa rock into smaller pieces. If the zoa is on a mat or on a frag plug then I will use a scissor or scapel to cut through the zoa mat.

I agree, but right after fragging put the freshly cut zoas in a bucket of tank water and gently blow off the excess slime from the frag. Plus make sure you wear atleast goggles!Gloves don't hurt either. The last thing anybody needs is palytoxins in their eye. Because the zoas are very poisonous and the slime is dangerous, be really careful when fragging. I've had a lot of experience with fragging zoas and such so if you have a question feel free to P.M. me anytime.

ok so you pretty much cut the zoa of the rock but make sure to get the mat and superglue it on a plate. And i will defiantly be getting some goggles and gloves lol

If you're fragging a big colony of zoas make sure you frag the colony on a hard surface! This will save you some headache later.

I am going to add that you want to AVOID cutting off just polyp mat material and glueing to your new frag plug/rock rubble. Take your time, get the right tools and get some of the base liverock the zoas/palys are growing on. This will increase the odds of your newly fragged polyps living.

It depends on how the rock is that the zoa's are attached to. If you can easily get one off with a pair of bone-cutters, try that. If the zoa's are attached to a large rock that you cant easily take out of your tank, i would first agitate the zoas so they close up. I have easy access to scalpel, so i would use something to that extent to cut the mat of whatever you're fragging. Keep in mind this knife or whatever is likely to get ruined. Then take a pair of bonecutters and cut away at the rock until you have your frag

Are you fragging from a rock or a plug? I have a lot of experience fragging from a plug. LMK if that's what you are looking for.
