I suppose you have the "cluster dusters"? Those guys are great. I've got an exploding population of them as well and glad for it! They're beautiful and feed on crap you don't want in your water anyway. They grow all around my mushroom colonies and don't seem to bother anything, but I do have a suspicion my skunk cleaner shrimp attack them from time to time as I see dusters and tubes laying around as though they have been discarded. I have noticed my cleaner shrimp pair seem to "know" when one type of creature needs population control. Every so often they go on a rampage and eat a bunch of papershell snails when they become too numerous for their liking. Might be worth trying, but I certainly wouldn't consider the dusters pests.
