Hi all,

is threre any way to remove mushroom polyps from rocks without taking all the rocks out.
They are taking over my whole aquarium.
Can I inject them with something that won't harm water parameters? Are there any animals that preefer mushroom polyps as food?

tnx

cut stalk as close to rock as possible and send to me ...
ill pay shipping to 07732

whatever is left will regrow a new shroom or you can remove using tweezers or forceps

Injecting them may or may not work. The only sure fire way is fragging them. You must remove the foot by cutting below, into the rock to remove all traces of the shroom. If any of the foot is left they will come back. Pretty much impossible without removing the rock from the tank.

I love shrooms personally. Post a pic of your tank if you get a chance!

Here's the pic

Unfortunately I live in Europe so I guess shipping it isn't an option ;)

Your tank looks like mine did. I was overrun with those darn red mushrooms. Those things spread like atapsia! Last weekend I was re-aquascaping, so when I removed the liverock I took a razor blade to at least 50 of them. When I put the rocks back in, I tried to put them upside down so whatever was left of the mushroom wouldn't get any light. We'll see what happens.

@tactical

I've tried that, but every little piece that remains on rock turns to new shrooms.

My aquarium is 180g so selling all live rock to lfs would be like making a whole new aquarium.

Is there any predator for mushrooms?

WOW. I feel sorry for you. If you cut them, you could try smearing Joes Juice or Kalk over the open wound. That might get them. Good luck.

What is Joes Juice? Is it something I must buy or can I make it at home?

Joe's Juice is what they sell for getting rid of aipstasia... i believe it is RO water and Kalkwasser mixed together into a liquid paste...
