How to handle Monti Nudis.

Let a friend hold some corals while I set-up the new tank and despite dipping them I missed the eggs of these guys.

I was able to catch it early and have taken no losses but i see them on most o my montis 1-2 visible ones. I did a dip last night while moving them from my display and after just checking, I still see them.

The montis are currently in my frag tank which probably is infested since that is where I had everything before moving it to the display.

I don't know if I am able to set-up a 3rd system for but then maybe that is the best way to go about it?

Can I please get confirmation that my DT needs to be montipora free for the next 4-6 weeks? Does 6 weeks almost guarantee eradication?

Secondly. I am going to dip and get these visible nudis to go away. Do I dip every 4 days after? It is just night and day easier to put these montis in their own system and isolate the problem while allowing the frag tank and dts to die off?

I didn't have a large outbreak, but what worked for me was rigorous monitoring and manual removal of the nudis whenever seen - siphon tube or tweezers, from what I recall. Then I scraped the area I saw them (usually along a border of dead coral) and covered it with a thin layer of super glue to get any eggs that might have been laid. I think I mainly used a siphon tube to remove the nudi and do the scraping, to get any eggs out of the system completely. It was an effective approach for me.
 
Bayer 10 ml per cup for 10-15 min every 4-5 days for about 4-6 weeks, removing plug they attached to ,Works for me,
Never lost single piece, during this treatment I keep them in lower light
not sure how long it takes to starve them to death but in my opinion definitely longer than 6 weeks
I heard flatworm exit works pretty good also
 
try this, remove a nudi with a small pipette or turkey baster. If you can't find a nudi in the daytime, wait till lights out for a couple hours. The little boogers can hide in the smallest crack or crevice along with the eggs. Once you get one or more if possible, get out your dip arsenal. Mix up small batches or solution in something you can easily observe. Drop a nudi in the dip and watch it cruise around.

I have tried Revive, Coral Rx, Bayer, something ,something solutions bs dip, Lugols in strong concentration will kill them but also stresses the monti. Fresh water dip will kill the monti for sure. Dilute peroxide dip killed the monti as well. I have not found a dip that kills Montipora eating nudibranch.

Dipping the coral will help to loosen the nudi's grip, but doesn't eradicate them.

I treated the tank for redbugs and killed off all the hermits. In no time the nudi population exploded, patches of montipora were gone and at night I could see masses of nudi's in the areas. Since adding blue legs back into the tank the masses are gone and new growth edges have formed around the bare skeleton. The Christmas wrasse also eats the pests but is to busy sleeping while the nudi's feed. Peppermint shrimp help to keep the numbers down as well, and the added benefit is they are active at night.

Manual removal and natural predators, lots of work and patience. Been six months or more and still finding them in the frag tank. Forget about the display lol

Hope this helps, no fun having these pests and no easy task to eradicate.

Been dipping and cleaning (2 dips in 48 hour) with coralRX and I'll fallback to a 4-5 day dip.

Will let the display sit void of Montipora for 3 months to make sure. I'll look at adding some peppermint shrimp or perhaps a 6-line to the frag tank for added measure.
 
Bayer is the quickest at killing them, plus the corals always stay in great health and keep good color. After a while the adults may build up an immunity to the coral rx.
 
I have them also right now I removed every piece of monti that I could but sti have a few colony that r stuck big time on rock I had thema year ago and did the super glue to ever were I thought there would be eggs and I didn't see any for a long time then my tank started having other issues is when I noticed them again I'm going to get some peppermint shrimp and see how that goes or let the tank be monti free for a few months
 
Bayer 10 ml per cup definitely killing them for me
Rps,revive,coral rx- they still alive after 15 minutes
Rps killing them after I triple the dose but I never put any Monti in it
 
ok, running another bayer test. Mixing a solution equivalent to 10ml Bayer Complete Insect Killer to 1 cup tank water. This seems to be the "standard" dosage from what I have read lately.

I mixed 1/4c tank water with 2.5ml Bayer and mixed well. Placed enough dip in the bottom of black container to observe the nudi's and completely submerge them in the dip.

At 10:15 I dropped two nudis in the solution,

10:20 nudis still cruising,
10:25 nudis still on the move, they are moving as I type
waiting
10:30 yup, nudis still unaffected, moving freely

Ok, so can someone else run a dip test on Nudis with Bayer to verify these findings

I'd try and remove one of the adults from the tank and put it in a cup of tank water with 10mL of Bayer in it and see how long it take to die. You can probably do 15 ml per cup. You can overdose a lot without hurting anything. I know that a lower dosage with a longer time kills a lot more of them than a high dosage with a short time.
 
Look into Dettol antiseptic as a dip for these guys, found some threads on another forum with a good success rate against knocking out these pests.
