How to help Acan frag grow

Saw some australian Acan frags that I want to buy...ranging from 1x1 to 2x2inch....

What do you guys suggest to best help an Acan grow beside good water quality and feeding?

1) place on sandbed and leave it
2) stick frag on top of a hill-like stone so it can spread outwards and downwards
3) glue more frag plates around the Acan frag to let it expand?

I've been reading quite a few forums and all agree they do spawn additional heads but some say there are skeletons below each head, some say there are none....'my acan frag looks like its having a hard time jumping off the frag plug'

thoughts or better still, experience?

my tank is only 9 months old but i have had great success with my acans so far. i have most of my acan frags glued to rocks about 3/4 way down in a 60x24x24 tank, with 4 Hydra AI 26 LED lights about 8 inches above the water surface. i even placed 2 acan frags much closer to the lights and they seem to be doing well too.

I purchased 2 frags of rainbow acan (2 heads each) at a june 2016 reefapalooza and they both now have at least 15 heads.

pictures below are a acan frag before/after 6 months as well as one of the rainbow acans mentioned above.

i run my tank with very high Alk (between 13 and 14), not sure if that helps with acan growth but all my corals (LPS and SPS) are growing noticibly.

Curious as well- I have one from late summer that started as 3 heads and added 5 or so. I like to feed it plankton weekly and it seems to take it nicely. I think basically if you don't give it rock or hard base it will slow growth as it grows less polyps and more skeleton, but not really sure. I would like to give mine more of a base.

I always had the best luck managing proper magnesium levels and feeding Reef nutrition products

I only have one acan but it was only about 6 heads when I got it around 1.5 years ago and now it has around 50. I do feed it a majority of foods like I do with all of my lps so I'm sure that helped. Other then that I haven't really done anything specific. I glued him to a rock at the bottom of the tank when I got him and have never moved him. I believe they will grow faster if u place them on a rock because they can spread on the rock. If u want them to grow in more of a ball shaped then place it on the sandbed but it will be a slow grower because the skeleton would have to grow.

I feed a reefroids, reefchilli, a couple different things reef nutrition products like oyster feast but most of my lps love mysis

1. Works for me if the frag isnt too small to start will tend to form ball shapes as they grow new heads at edge center mounding upwards
2. Also works new heads still grow at edge but shape is less mounding more sprawling , can get tiered effect some growing on bed others up an growing over rock
3, Never tried

each head grows out of a skeleton for that head.

How to help Acan frag grow

low light and keep a good space around it so it can grow
the water flow is low to medium
keep calcium and alk in the normal range
