how to keep ph up in QT tank?

with no rock or sand in qt how do people keep there ph up?

and if i set my QT up and keep it running can i use pure amonia to keep it cycled and ready for new fish?

With frequent water changes it seems to stay in the right ph level. And the question about the ammonia, all you need is to keep the biological media in your displays water column so you can switch it over to the qt when you need it. I use a sponge filter and i keep it in my sump. Either way, if you plan to use meds, most contain biocides that kill the nitrifying bacteria, so keeping a cycle is a pain.

W/O going to in details, i believe most antibiotic available for fish should state wether it does disturb bio activities or not. Erythromyacin is only one that I remember which might knock off bio-activities. Check the label.
To raise and/or keep pH stable in q/T, try net bagful of crushed corals in the HOB filter or simply in the the tank. Replace bagful for each usages.

Almost all PH issues in QT's are caused by poor aeration and the resulting buildup of CO2. You can add a powerhead pointed at the surface, which will help drive off excess CO2. Since you don't have corals or other creatures that use up calcium in your QT, so this is not the root of the problem.

thanks guys, iam setting up a 10g & 20g and mabie 15g QTs today for the fish i get on boxeing day sales, iam just wondering if i add the cycled filters to the tanks if the bacteria with no waist to proccess in the next four days will start to die off and cause a mini cycle? and i plan on afew fish in each tank so i whant the maximen amount of bacteria of course

Also use water from you main tank and mix w/ new aged water in Q/T.
