How to keep salt dry....

How do you keep your dry salt from clumping when in storage? I typically buy (1) box at a time of IO Reef Crystals and it seems like by the time i get to using the last sealed bag that is in the box, it is hard and clumpy. Any tips/tricks?

I bought an Instant Ocean Reef Crystals 160 gallon bucket and after I used it up I just dump the whole bag in when I buy a new bag now.

It has an really nice O ring that keeps the salt really dry for me at least.

Buy the bucket, good for 150 gallons, just once. Once consumed, fill it up with three of the 4 bags from the boxed salt. Make sure to seal the bucket well after each use. When the bucket is almost empty, empty the last bag into the bucket and order the next box. Works for me, and I've been doing it this way for almost 3 years, one box of 4 bags good for 200 gallons lasting me about 6 weeks at a time.

Try storing it someplace drier or like others said in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid.

But I have 1 question - are you saying the unopened bag is clumpy?

Yes.. This last unopened bag was clumpy and I know that shouldn't happen. It really wasn't "that bad". Mixed well in the water so not too worried but need a plan for the future. I typically end up with 1/4-1/2 a bag after each change which is the real problem. I didn't know the buckets sealed that well or I would have bought those. I figured individual bags would be better but I will certainly go with the bucket from now on. Thanks

I was about to dump my last 2 bags into a 5 gallon bucket this weekend, but I didn't do it yet. I barely got those buckets cuz I needed them, but that's my plan in the future. Good to know it's effective for those that already do it. I hate clumpy salt.
