my lfs has a pair of yellow candy hogfish
they are fairly close in size. The "male" is about 1/4" bigger and much more orange.

The smaller one is yellower. They are currently in a small 11g lfs tank with a purple psudo and something else. They seem like their a pair, but I can't tell. Everything I read about these guys says not to keep more than one in a small tank. So I am hoping they're mated. Any idea how to sex these guys?

Mature females tend to be more orangish with red lines, whereas males tend to be pinkish overall with red lines. If they are younger, it is difficult to tell. Anyway, if they are getting along well together in a tank that tiny, then they are most likely a pair. IME, this species does not tolerate conspecifics unless they are separate sexes (in which case, usually consists of several females, juveniles, and one male).
