I have a piece of LR with Zoanthus on it. That I want to make sure there in no bad hitchhikers on it before I put it in my display tank. What the best way to treat the rock (iodine drip/RODI drip). What the pros and cons for each?

Just put it right in.... Newbs always overreact about hitchhikers

Really there is nothing other then perhaps some algae on the rock that might become an issue.

I tend to look at these things as life. Everything in life thats living has a purpose.

Maybe I should have said parasite

Any hitchhikers I've had to deal with (even zoa-eating nudibranches), really haven't been very difficult to remove or deal with. I'm with mcgyvr and say just put that thing in there and see what happens. It's good to get familiar with the concept that, no matter how hard you try, you won't be able to control everything. Not even close.

.... Where did the live rock come from? How well do you know the person that sold it to you, or the tank? Was it purchased online and shipped in, or did you buy it locally?

Anything in there tank will possibly be in your tank. That means ich, and any number of other things.

I wouldn't trust some peoples live rock in my tank, and I'd be fine with others... depends where it came from.

I bought it out of town. I don't know or trust putting there LR straight into my tank. So I figured I could quarantine the rock for a couple of days to see if I see anything on it or do and iodine drip to kill everything off the rock but the the zoanthus.
