speaking from my own experiences my salinity has dropped all the way down to1.016. i was wondering why my zoas and shrooms were acting weird ran some tests and figured out it was the salinity. do a water change and make the water real low in salt then add very slowely and tweak as you go. i have done this in the past with no ill affects. good luck .
Whatever you do, do it slowly. Assuming you acclimated your fish, they will respond much better to a slow reduction in salinity, than to a drastic drop.
Two questions for you; where is your sg and what are you using to measure it?
If your above 1.027 I would try and bring it down with a little more urgency.....say .001 every couple hrs. Just not in 1 quick step. Fish tend to acclimate to decreases much easier than they do to increases in salinity. Also, unless your using a refractometer I would retest and be certain you have no small bubbles on your swingarm or hydrometer; they will give you a false high reading.
