I have a custom made skimmer by MTC similar to HSA 1000 but shorter, and will not be big enough for my new system.

Is your skimmer still running? Can I stop by your place to look the skimmer sometime next week?

My office is at commack and very close to you.

How do you compare HSA1000 with needlewheel skimmer such as H&S A300 or downdraft skimmer such as ETSS1000?

I have used an ETS in the past, I forget which model, but it was large enough to support my old 500 gallon system. I liked it.

This HSA was only working on about 150 or so gallons of water and it scrubbed the hell out of it.

I never used a needle wheel skimmer.

This skimmer will handle your system, though.

For the maintenance, how do you compare the ETS and HSA1000?

Not too different except that the HSA has those keyhole slots for the screws, so it makes those annoying nylon screws a little easier to manage. You won't have to worry about backing them all the way out, but you have to be careful when handling the unit that you don't snap one off during maintenance.
