2 things............

i was just talking with billy and he told me that hes getting the motherload of corals and fish on Sunday night. they should be ready for sale sometime Monday.

i just want to comment on the post about just fish and PA.

We all know that just fish has an ungodly smell that knocks you out when you walk in the door.
we also know that they have a problem getting rid of algae, and their prices are ridiculous.

PA is a good store but in my opinion its lacking experience, their prices were great when they opened up but are creeping up now. you cant get any deals if your spending 100- 200 everytime you go in there. thats something that billy takes care of you on. your store is always gonna look empty when you have one fish in each tank with bad lighting. adding the big tanks in the back isnt gonna bring people in, its just gonna be a bigger tank thats not stocked. just to clarify, i shop at 2 stores PA and greenbank.

these are my opinions and if you dont like a store than stop going in to them and support the ones that you like.

if you go to greenbank on monday or tuesday tell him you saw this post, he'll take care of you. i saw what hes getting and where its coming from, you wont be disappointed.

LOL Wow, you dont sound biased at all!

i guess its a good thing this forum gets almost 0 traffic these days, i can only imagine the mayhem that would have ensued.

pmvalenti, do you work at William's Greenbank occasionally? I think I may have talked to you in there before.

i dont work for him but i do help out whenever i go there, ive known bill for like 15 yrs. what were you buying?

It would be a big help if you can post what he is getting. Is this the real small store in the corner of a strip store? I think I was there one time but he really had nothing. If my memory is correct the saltwater fish are set up in the middle in real small tanks. So what is he getting in?

Thats the one!

I dont agree that the prices are better than DPA, not even that close really. The one thing i will say is when i was in there about a month ago he had a really nice selection of fish. Also, EVERYTHING looked super healthy. Im not sure if the have a QT tank hidden somewhere, but i didnt see one unhealthy fish.

Your right about the small tanks. The store has a reputation for getting HUGE showsize fish in, you would think that they would have large holding tanks to accomodate the fish. When i was in, there was a 10-12" angel in what looked like a 40g holding tank with what looked like a 20#LR. The poor fish could barely turn around. I know its a small thing to gripe about, maybe petty in some people's opinion, but if you constantly get fish in this size would it hurt to plumb one or two larger holding tanks?

The store is defintiely worth checking out.

i cant say what hes getting cause some things were ordered in special order, i do know that hes getting about 150 corals and a ton of fish. and that angel found a home in a 300 gal tank. if your gonna make a drive from out of state, come on monday, they wont be for sale sunday.

I personally get apprehensive about a store that "takes care of you" every time you go in or when you mention a special advertisment (i.e. this whole thread). If the owner is offering to "take care of me" that means he has enough of a mark-up on all of his stufff to be able to afford to "take care of me" and not take a hit to his bottom line. Which means he's really just "taking care of himself".

Which means if he's not there, or chooses to not "take crae of me" I just paid waayyy too much for something.

Once in a while is OK with me, reward your frequent customers, but if it's being done everytime it means his mark-up is definitely higher then it needs to be.

that angle is huge! the corals always look healthy and the fish look awsome too. i was there 11/24 and he me fraged me a piece of pulseing xiena. didnt like the price but it was very healthy. 1 stalk 38. wanted it for less but it ok it was free for me lol

Whoa! One stalk of xenia for $38?!? That's expensive as anything. If I could sell it for that much I'd be a millionaire. Bret if you want any more let me know, I've got 6 or so species of xenia, k plus some closely related stuff that is hardy and has more color just doesn't pulse. I won't rip you off on the price either. ;-)

You probably upset Bill if you asked him for a peice of something or just a little frag. He doesn't believe in selling frags. He thinks you should either buy the full colony from him or go elsewhere.

lol. idk he was gunna chop the rock because there was like 20 stalks. honestly i thought he was going to give it to me free bcause i was just trying to test it out. would have deff got somrthing nicer than a xenia 4 that price.

they had a ton of pulsing xenia pom pom frags and i was probally going to buy one... but it took him 15 minutes and me walking towards to the door to ask if i needed any help.... store is in pretty good shape though no algae growing out of control or anything... no prices on stuff though id say thats the only fault... that and the super huge bat fish in a 10 gallon tank :(
