Hurricane Sandy

Looks like Hurricane Sandy could impact our area. Most recent computer models show the potential for 60mph winds, etc. I am not a weatherman but I would use the weekend to make sure your tanks are prepared to function without power. And even if you don't lose power, it's always better safe than sorry (and you'll be prepared for the next potential outages).

True that, i started up the generator yesterday to make sure everything is in running order. I'll get some gas today just in case b/c it's a PITA to get a gallon of gas once sh*t hit the fan.

Yikes! I have some coral that was supposed to be delivered overnight on Tuesday from Ohio and Maryland. I better tell them to put some heat packs in with them.

I wonder who is at fault if FEDEX can't deliver as scheduled due to the weather...

Probably the best option would be to see if they can hold off on shipping for a bit.

What kind of zoas did you order?

Hey Tim,
Just one no-namer zoa, but I bought a ton of acros this time ;) Hopefully, they make it here safe. I have an inverter and my dad has a spare generator if it gets bad for more than a day or so. I'm just worried cause I have 6 tanks going right now (2 SW, and 4 FW). So, I'll have to do tank triage to figure out who gets power and who doesn't :(
will

Delaying them would probably be a good idea to at least see what actually happens.

I have sent both the people messages, but haven't heard a response from either of them. Kind of annoying.

Hopefully this won't be as bad as the weathermen are making it out to be.

generally if the weather is causing delays fedex wont honor any claims if there filled. zoas don't need overnight shipping or even water really when shoplifting. most spend low tide above water anyways for 8-10 hours at a time. there really tough about tempature and water quality. they grow in dirty water better than clean.

Possible and Likely Power Outages, thank you Weather channel.

Started my generator yesterday and discovered it no longer works. Looks like I'll be dropping ~$2K on a new one tonight if anywhere around here still has them in stock. Definitely wasn't a planned expense.

Good luck on that hunt. Lowes was out of them today when I went to get fresh oil and fuel stabilizer. Northern tools laughed when I asked on Friday. I have a Honda generator that hopefully we will not be needing but let me know if you need some help and I can see what we can do.

Thanks Eugene. Northern must have gotten in a shipment today because my dad called them and then I called to verify and they have 30+ 9KW generators in stock. I should have mine within the hour so hopefully my house will be power outage ready in the next few hours :)

Good luck to everyone. I hope we dodge a bullet and no one loses power, but the winds are certainly picking up out there.

I think the worst is over at this point and we are in the clear. There were power outages across the area. I hope everyone fared well through the storm.
