Does anyone use the Hydor Koralia Water Circulation Pump or have any info on how the hold up. Would it be a good investment or bad one.

You might want to read some of the reviews on here. There are a lot of people with problems on theirs.

The #2 and #3 were recalled but some people are saying they're having the same problems with the #1 and #4

There are people who like them and people who's pumps have simply quit working.

I'll look for the links for you

I've had 2 of the #2s running for about a month now. I like them. I bought them because the Tunze Nanos were on back order. Now the Korelias are too. I'd like to add a couple more but we'll see how they hold up.

I have a #4 and other than the flow pattern I like it. Mine puts out a "V" shaped pattern that makes placement difficult. I won't be buying another one, either MJMOD or Seio puts out a better flow but at the expense of size and electricity and more money. it has some nice features but that crazy flow pattern killed it for me.

Well it seems I jinxed myself. One of the #2s had trouble starting up yesterday. It had a fair amount of calcium build up. I've been dosing a lot more 2-part lately. I cleaned it with vinegar but it still took some good shaking to get it running again. I'm looking into the Tunze Nanos or even possibly the Vortech.

I have used a 4 since FosterSmith got them first in and aside from routing soaking to remove calcium deposits I have not had a problem with it.

Well I've really jinked myself. One of my Korelias has shorted and trips my GFCI when ever I plug it in. The other one still running fine for now but I plan on buying a couple Nanostreams. Their smaller and more powerful anyway.

I've had 2 of the #4's for a while and they have both been running fine. Modded them with the dumas 3004 prop, pushing about 2200gph @ 15watts. Not bad for a $50 powerhead.

Occaisionally mine turns the wrong way, but pops out and comes back and starts turning the right way.

what are calcium deposits? Coraline build up? I have never heard of it shutting down a power head? I used one for a month or so and it had nice flow and I like the magnet holder. I do not know what #/model it was as I borrowed it.

The heat of the motor and impelller motor can cause CaCO3 to precipate out and build up, especially when dosing Cal and Alk heavily. I have the same problem with my return pump, a Velocity T4.

I have two 3's in my 75 gallon and so far I am pleased. I do think I should have went with fours. I'm just pleased they don't vibrate against the glass like the aquaclear i was using.

The other Korelia went out like the first. Premium aquatics says they weren't recalled and I need to deal with Hydor.

Ok, it's offical Hydor Koralias are CRAP!... IMO

I'm still waiting on my replacement #2s from Hydor and the Tunze Nano Streams I replaced them with work like a charm.

However, I ordered a Koralia #1 for my frag tank. I didn't want to spend the money on another Tunze, some people are gluttons for punishment. After a week of use it started triping my GFCI.

I thought the leaking current issue was isolated to the just #2s and #3s and had been resolved, obviously not. I guess I need to fork out the cash for another Tunze Nano.
