Hydroids

So I was looking at my PPE the other day and they were not opening, I looked closer and saw hydroids:

I went over them with tweezers and pulled them all off and now they are happy and open. Since I knew what to look for I looked at several other zoas and of course the ones that were not happy had them. The fizzy lizzies got picked over next and are fine. My fruit loops are growing around one on their frag plug.

I have no idea where they came from but I now see them in several areas (nothing terrible) and was wondering if there was another way to kill them besides pulling them off with tweezers. I am asking because if there is a known dip to use I would rather use that then experimenting with several.

hey mikeandnicole, melafix has worked wonders for me in killing hydroids. i usually do a 10min dip in 1 capful of melafix to 1/2 gal of aquarium water. hope this helps

Thank you, we are going away this weekend so I will check it out when we get back. So far the tweezer method is working well just time consuming.
