Hyposalinity Treatment and PH Question

I am thinking about doing a hyposalinity treatment for my clownfish (saw a few white spots). Reading through the sticky and other sites' info, I understand the concept and procedure for hyposalinity treatment except for this one item. How do you bring the PH level in the fresh RO/DI water to the level of normal aquarium saltwater? That is to bring a PH of 7 to 8 or 8.2.

Some folks said to use baking soda. How much baking soda will need to bring one gallon of freshwater up to a PH of 8?

If not baking soda, are there any other product to use?

Thank you.

I would ask this question in the reef chemistry forum. I haven't had to do it in a while, but I know you have to "bake" the baking soda to raise pH.

Clownfish sometimes don't handle hypo well, they handle copper well though and its easier to keep consistant and more effective.
