I am currently a few days into hyposalinity treatment on a Koran angelfish that I purchased which after three days in my QT tank showed signs of ich. I brought the salinity down from 1.025 to 1.009 in my QT over about a 24 hour period and the fish seems to be doing MUCH better. It now appears that my Blue Hippo tang in my DT is showing signs of Ich so I am wondering how I can get him over into the QT which is already at 1.009 without setting up yet another tank.
I had read that lowering salinity is much easier on the fish than when raising it, so I guess my question is what is the minumum amount of time you should take a fish from 1.025 salinity to hyposalinity of 1.009 without causing more stress to the fish. I understand once the 4 weeks of hyposalinity treatment is over, I need to very slowly bring the salinity in the QT tank back up to 1.025 (as in 3-5 days?).
Any info would be appreciated.
