I am back well.... sort of

Yeah so I signed up here back on October 2010 but must have forgotten so I apologize as I should have stayed here.

I was actually using a different reef forum until today when an attempted censorship took place. I had in my signature something that is basically from a Halo video game and the forums from it and the company that makes it.

Needless to say one person complained after it being there for almost a month and I was asked to remove it. Mind you this has no profanity whatsoever and quite frankly I think the person who complained was someone who I had just been arguing with because they accused me of saying not to listen to their advice when I did nothing of the sort and the posts show this.

I know places have their favorites but it should not be that way. I feel Free Speech is very important and therefore I have decided to leave a place that openly displays censorship as that is not what America is about nor should anyplace be like that.

So now onto the good news.

I recently purchased a 220 AGA tank(Starfire Front Panel) with a Marineland Chocolate Stand and Canopy, Marineland Pro Series Lights, a 75 Gallon Sump(have to build) and a Hy-Drive Pump and other little things. I paid $1600 for all of it and it is seriously like in 98% new condition.

I currently have an 80Gal Bowfront tank but this will be the new home.

I have a pair of mated clowns(4 yrs. old) a Hippo Tang, 6 line, Foxface, Flame and Coral Beauty, a Royal Gramma and one large Damsel but he won't be making the move as he is a bully and I think killed the smaller Damsel and has been bothering others now.

I just last night got the Acrylic panels for my sump and have posted a thread in the DIY section.

I plan to document the build of it and the set-up of the tank with photos of every little thing I do so people who haven't seen it can, and maybe learn something or not. I think I should be ok with setting it all up and plumbing it all together.

So look for my tank build to get moving along here. I may decide to build the sump and set up the tank to cycle before my first post on it so that there are not weeks before you see it up and running and only see a sump being put together.

I will be using Tims One and Only and Dr. Tim sent me the Ammonia Chloride so I can do a fishless cycle. I told him I was making a doc for his stuff during my build.

I have about 70pounds of dry rock I removed from my current tank to start the cycle and about 90 live in my tank now that will make a short trip into the tank when it is done cycling.

I will not be filing up this 220 with a ton of rock as I want a more open set-up with corals and stuff.

See you on the boards.

Hello, and welcome! This board has it rules as well in regards to what you can post so make sure to read up on them.

Your tank project sounds great. Remember, pics or it didn't happen! ;)

Thanks and I totally understand the rules but in this case I didn't break any.

Here is the sig I had. "Whatever Chief Fish Expert now Let Me Spank You."

All that means really is that I know better. People say spank you when they talk about getting beat in sports and many other things.

Again it isn't right to censor that simple statement and to call it creepy.

Oh and here are at least some early pix just to show its true haha:lmao:

The tank is very clean now and Marineland is sending me all new bulbs for free. WOOT TOOT!! Very cool of them to help me out.

Thanks I actually just finished redoing the 75 Gal Sump.

I had the center of the bubble trap fall and it ruined my neat and careful work big time so I just went sloppy from then on.

Well not sloppy but I can't get the silicone off the acrylic like the glass so I look like a stooge showing it but I will though.

I made these little boxes for the water coming into the skimmer and the fuge. The fuge one was supposed to have smaller holes but I accidentally glued and siliconed the bottom on the wrong side so I had to leave it.

Oh well just hope they hold the weight of the rubble. I may get a little support leg for them though.

Here are a few pix of it for now until I post the whole build. Wish it was neater but I will clean up the glass and whatever excess I can get to. It looks worse in the pix because I was working and you can see a ton of finger prints and smudges. I will razorblade the glass and trim all the crud I can off of it.

I even made an acrylic support for the skimmer to raise it up to clear the 12" baffles.

In the end it just has to work but it would be nice to have it neat.

The last few pix.

I wish it was neater but what can you do except clean it up the best you can and more importantly make it function correctly.

NO LEAKS first test WOOT TOOT!

Thanks for the comment.

I figure what the heck no-one will see it anyway but I am still going to scrape the glass and get all the extra silicone off.

I also noticed the acrylic rubs pretty clean. Must be because it hasn't been sitting for that long.

I just don't want it to make its way into the water so I will at least clean it as much as I can.
