I can't keep this frogspawn happy!

So I got this frogspawn at a frag swap back in April and ever since then it has never been happy! The polyps are never fully extended it seems but it has grown another head.

-I tried having it placed high up: didn't like the flow.
-I tried having it mid tank sheltered behind a rock: did ok there but not great.
-I have it on a lowest part of a rock: definitely not extending all the way
:( I have no idea what else to do! Could it be that I changed bulbs from stock aquaticlife to ATI? Perhaps it doesn't like so much light?

I have another frogspawn and a hammer coral that are absolutely great! The other frogspawn is nicely extended and growing 2 more heads! What is up with this guy?! Here is a picture of him

here it is on April 20th

Parameters are as such:
Temp: 79-80
SG: 1.025
Ca: 425
Alk: 9
Mag: 1450
Nitrate, Nitrite and Ammonia: 0
Phosphate: 0

I run GFO and carbon in the BRS reactor at all times and change every month for carbon and every 2 months for GFO. Help me figure out what's going on!

I have moved it to the other side of the tank where there is less light, hopefully it will recover a bit more. I also started target feeding it more with cyclopeeze which it seemed to really enjoy. I'll hope for the best! This one is really really picky compared to the green one! Thanks for the help

In my tank I have mine midtank and under moderate flow. I actually noticed a change yesterday when I opened the valve up for more flow it seemed to like it more. But from what I've seen in the short time I've been doing this, all corals have a mind of they're own. Treat it well and it will return the favor :p

Also, dont expect instant change. Put it down low and leave it there. A few weeks later if its not doing better, try again until you get it right. They dont like to be moved around!

Thanks! I hope this spot is better for him. He was in his last spot for a month or more and I saw no change in him. It's odd because I used to have him high up when I first got him and then he started looking sad so I moved him down and he looked ok for awhile. He just seems to retract his polyps now and is not extending at his full potential. I am starting to target feed a little more to see what happens also.

I have one that does the same thing when its in a high flow area. Low flow it gets huge. I know you've tried both just giving you my experience.

Like sancho said, you may not see instant change. I had one that took about a month to come back to 100% after being moved around.

That last pic looks like it may have lost some zooxanthellae. Try feeding it & be patient. Hope it perks back up for ya!!

Thanks! I have been feeding it so we'll see what happens. I figure if one frogspawn is happy on that side, this one could be too.

My frogspawn had the same problem. One day I looked very very closely and noticed tiny white specs on it. No bigger than grains of sugar. I watched them a while and eventually they moved. I researched it and it turned out to be some sort of frogspawn specifc parasite. I set up a quarantine tank and mixed up some interceptor in the water. I moved the frogspawn in and let it stay in about 8hrs. The next day bugs were gone so I put it back in the tank. Polyps where huge the same day and its been thriving ever since. You may not have these bugs. But its worth it to check. Just look very very closely as they're hard to spot.
