I Found Something In My Tank?

I've been looking closely at my tank the last month while it was cycling. Tonight I noticed 2 critters that I had never seen before. The first one I couldn't get a picture of. It looked like a gray worm coming out of a rock. It is about 2-3" long and looked like it had a mouth on the end. It was picking at the rock all around it with the mouth. When I checked later it was nowhere to be seen, so I guess it retracted back into the rock.

The second critter looks kind of like some kind of featherduster but it has a little trumpet besides the fan. This was the best picture I could get. It's right in the center of the photo in a little cave.

When I shined a flashlight on it to get a better look it popped back into a tube. It's not a tube like a duster that sticks straight out. It's more like the whole tube is attached to the rock. Any idea what they are?

I do not kwow what they are, I have a ton of them and so does my mentor on this in are fuge/sump and a few in the tank, I think I read some where what they are, they are like a featherduster/tube worm, they are a positive.

Second critter is a feather duster and the first critter you described is most definitely a peanut worm. Both are completely harmless and very beneficial.

Good luck with your setup.
Bill:)
