I got bubble algae

Well I've got bubble algae again...or more of it. I had a pearl on a rock 2 months ago that I was able to take out by removing the rock and giving it a scrape and a ro bath. no such luck this time as its on my largest rock. Looks like I am going to go get a few emerald crabs to take care of the problem. How many would you think for a 90 gal? I am thinking 3 smallish ones. Also will by blue throat trigger take em out?

I have been thinking of trading him away because I want shrimp.

Yeah your bluethroat will probably make them into a nice snack for himself, but who knows. It really depends on how "domesticated" you've got him. Some people can keep triggers and puffers and such with shrimp and crabs, and some can't.

I don't know if you saw the thread I started earlier last night, but you can see my wavering opinion on emerald crabs.... I guess they're good if you've got massive bubble algae, and if your corals are all doing well and going strong.

Best advice for bubble algae from me would to be use a razor blade and try to cut it out along with a portion of the rock so nothing is left.

I want to say when crabs and fish eat the bubble algae, it tends to pop the bubble thus spreading whats inside of it. correct?

I have seen good success with bubble algae and emeralds.

I saw that post. I also think that the female (smaller claw) crabs are tamer. Hey maybe I will get lucky and he will eat the bubble and then get eaten b4 he does any damage. I really like these crabs. I would prefer to keep some anyway.
