And its doing great! I floated it for an hour, then dripped it for an hour then dumped it into the 120. Its very active, and comes out into the open when the lights in the room come on. It and the maroon clown that are in there seem to be getting along quite well (they swim near each other up and down the tank, which kind of surprised me).

I put some nori in there last night on a clip. The tank also has a fair amount of HA. What else should i try and feed it tonight if the nori & HA are un-eaten?

Mine bonded with my maroon also. They are never more than a few inches apart. The maroon hosts/sleeps in a frogspawn and the tang stays directly under it. They act like a mated pair. Mine likes nori and PE mysis. It picks at the rocks all day but I have never seen it eat HA. I have a few spots of it in my tank that are always there.

Ctenochaetus tangs don't have mouths designed to eat filamentous algae, so don't expect it to eat any of your hair algae. It also takes them quite a while to learn to eat nori IME. They would never eat it naturally.

Try some New Life Spectrum pellets. My kole used to also love Ocean Nutrition Formula 2 pellets. Frozen mysis or brine will probably get it eating, but aren't good long-term food choices.

Thanks, i tried some H20 Fish and Reef #2 last night and it was still a little timid of the turkey baster/feeder so it did not come out to eat. Ill give it a few tries at that, then come back for more info...

Isnt that odd how the maroon and the kole 'buddy' up?

Koles seem to pick up on feeding on an algae clip through observation. Mine loves the softer variety ( red and purple ) and learned quickly from watching the Hippo and Foxface.

My Kole will pretty much eat anything after settled in the first day or two. Mysis, flake , pellet, marine cuizine ( marine mixture mysis, krill etc ).

As long as your Kole is displaying his natural feeding behavior by picking on film algae on the rocks, sand etc then you will be fine. Koles can come in with damaged mouth parts will prevent them from eating. If yours is grazing from the tank then he will probably eat just about anything you put in soon enough.

Thanks, ill try and sit and watch him more tonight if i get a chance (its a in frag tank, which is in the basement...so its not he center of attention). Never heard of the shipping damage before, wish i had known.

Canton eh? I was just in the Fish Dr's down there, i really like what they had!

I did not see mine eating anything for weeks. Since he was looking healthy, I guess he was picking what he need from the rocks.

I was able to watch it for awhile last night, and it is picking at the glass and the eggcrate. I fed the maroon again, the same vegi/meat mix. This time though i broadcast fed with the return pump off and i was able to see the kole chase down some pieces. So it is eating, but i dont know what yet since its just a big mix of brine/mysis/sea weeds/krill etc...
