I hate my shrimp!

Is there any fish that would eat my shrimp. I got them a little while ago and they are bothering all the mushrooms and preventing them from opening up. I know it's a harsh way to get rid of them, but I can't catch them. I tried to food in the net and tried taking most of my corals out and catching them, but the always jet away. Let me know if there's a fish that would eat them for me. I heard maybe wrasses would eat the shrimp? I should have never bought them. The guy at my LFS said they don't bother any corals though.

I had good luck with the food it net trick. I use a biger net and rubberband a silverside to the inside back of the net. That way the shrips need to go all the way inside.

That question will change. Eventually it will become: how do I get rid of my mushrooms? But the net with food thing will work fine as will a fish trap.

I think it is unlikely that your cleaner shrimp will bothe your shrooms so much that they won't open. Are you sure they are the cause.

Tried that......... What's a good wrasse to put in there?

I was suggesting to try it again. If you place an aggressive wrasse in you will be stuck with that. And it will be much harder to catch.

My initial thought as well.

My cleaner shrimps will climb onto my hand =\ Easiest thing in my tank to catch. Try hand-feeding the shrimp with some krill. Then catch it in a large net once it's on your hand

Ya I am having a hard time believing it is cleaner shrimp. 20-30$ a piece? and you have several and you want to find a fish to eat them because they are hurting your shrooms? I mean they will walk over zoa's and cause them to close for a minute or two, but so do crabs. sure it isn't something else? water or lighting change lately?

My cleaner shrimp do the same thing. They jump on my hand when its in the tank and it seems that they try to give it a cleaning as if it was a fish. Try the net thing but go and get a new style red net. I tried to catch a certain pest fish for 2 months with every idea mentioned above and then some, No luck, I went and bought the red net and the little bugger swam right in to get at a cube of still frozen mysis shrimp I used as bait within the first fifteen minutes. Other fish entered first, but a quick twitch of the net had them leaving quick until my prey entered and got trapped against the glass.

As a diver, I used to allow my photography students to photograph cleaner shrimp cleaning my teeth. They are good but it tickles. To get them back out, push them with your tongue. This is NOT recommended for aquaria.

I use a fish trap baited with mysis to catch undesirables; works great, usually within 20 minutes.

Lunar Wrasse. I have one and he will massacre any shrimp in your tank probably within the first ten minutes of being in there. I know because I bought mine at 3" and he took my cleaner bashed him on a rock to break him apart then ate all the parts. Mine is now around 6" and not aggressive at all. I just added 3 fish today and he could care less.

Thats the pest fish I was talking about. He took care of my original shrimp in a heart beat and a ton of my snails as well. I made the big mistake of not doing my homework before an impulse purchase. I liked him so much though that I set up a 75g Fowlr for him in the basement. Lunare Wrasse are not a reef friendly fish.
