I have a 220 reef that had ich, I took all fish out for 8weeks, treated the fish in QT with copper for weeks and ran a low amount in constantly. I just added my fish back and after two days my purple tile and hippo have acouple specs of ich, what's up? Was it all in vain?

What kind of copper - what concentration - how long.

Copper is only effective if it is maintained at the proper concentration for the entire treatment period (sometimes requiring testing twice a day) ... the amt and duration of treatment varies by copper. Also ... some coppers like Cupramine don't accurately read on some copper test kits.

While some forms of ich have grown resistant to hypo to my knowledge there is no form of ich that has developed a resistance to copper. Copper is suppose to be "bullet proof" - the caveat is that you need to have the proper concentration during the treatment period.

It sounds like you treated your QT tank, but not the main tank.. The way I understand it is the fish should be resistant to ick once you have treated them. I think you should make a run at your main tank as well.

They did treat the main tank they ran it fallow for 8 weeks.

Are you sure it's ich, there's been a couple of times I freaked out thinking I saw a spot or two of ich only to look a few hours later and discover it was sand or debris possibly from them going thorugh the rocks.
