I know.. another ich question, but its an advanced Q!

Ok here is my quick story.

I have had ich in my tank since the start of this year. I have controlled it by feeding properly and adding garlic in their food diet. Everything was ok, until just recently. I tried to combat ich using this new reef safe Polyp Lab med, but to no avail (must be because I started a delayed treatment). In duration, I have lost 3 fish, and more to come if I dont do something drastically.

I want to quickly setup a hyposalinity treatment for the remaining fish, but need advice first.

I was going to get a large tub (60 gal) and place all the fish in there with current tank water. I was going to perform the treatment in there for 6 -7 weeks. But I am unsure if that is the 'de-stress' method. Should I just leave the fish in the DT and place all LR and inverts in the tub for 6-7 weeks?

What about my coral? If I do my hyposalinity treatment in the DT, could I leave my corals in there too? If not, then I would have to do the treatment in the tub.

Also.. I do have a shortfin Lion, and have read that they dont do well in hypo treatments.. what do I do with him? He is not affected with ich, and is eating like no tomorrow. Do I just leave him with the inverts and LR?

What would your solution be?

Thanks for any help.

certainly nothing 'advanced' here..
what fish died and were they in there since the beginning of the parasite invasion?

well, first of all...

its been discovered that its not Ich, but Velvet.
Since its impossible for me to remove the fish, I am going to utilize UV and Vortex Diatom filter to remove the free swimming parasites. I am not catching any fish since that would be impossible to do in a 180 (6'x3'x1.5').

So its hoping for the best... unless it gets really bad.. then I will fetch my favorite fish and do the copper treatment.

velvet eh... typically livestock will succumb much quicker.. 3-5 days. very difficult to clear fish of that parasite.. wiped out my very first tank..

Well its been 1.5 weeks, since the outbreak began.... so i am still praying that it might be contained...
