hey guys, ill come clean..... i am a wrasse addict. i appreciate the fairies and flashers like everyone else but my main motivation is the big boys. ive always been fascinated with the coris' but never was able to find a healthy/not cyanide fish. early last week at EB sean had a red coris that was picking at cyclopeeze so i had to have it. im very aware of the horrible survival rates of these gorgeous fish but i figured i could commit to giving it a fighting chance. well on valentines day in went "cupid". he hid for 5 days buried under the sand, then a few days ago he cautiously began venturing out and digging for food in the middle of the tank. this fish is GORGEOUS! he only comes out for a few seconds at a time a few times a day. im feeding heavily and really putting the euro reef to work but i have to keep up with his metabolism. i havent seen him go after any of the baby mysis yet but im hoping he comes around. from others ive spoken with the first month is the hardest. if i can get him feeding he'll be more bold and prone to staying out all day. ill keep everyone posted on the progress and hopefully grab a few pics although a camera wouldnt do him justice. also lauren surprised me with a seagrass wrasse to accompany him so now i have two shy, hard to feed fish. im really hoping for success with both, this is by far the craziest thing ive done for my wrasses but i wouldnt have it any other way. everyone wish me luck on " wrasse project v2.0" :) <~~~steve

I'll see if I can swing by there sometime soon. What's your schedule over the next few days? I'm going to be out that way either tomorrow evening or Thursday evening doing a side job. I should get there around 5:30PM and be finished by 7ish.

For the first time in a long time, I don't have any side jobs lined up for the upcoming weekend. Maybe I can venture out that way on Saturday....maybe stop in at Emerald Bay.

I still have your number, so I'll give you a ring if I decide to head your way.

well almost one week in i have some updates..... the red coris is becomming more bold but he is still unbeleivably shy. i was able to encourage a feeding response by jamming frozen mysis into empty snail shells and letting him scavenge for them before they completely thaw. im feeling good about his chances as hes been eating all day and still looks quite fat. the green coris is still burying himself. the funniest thing is he thinks i cant see his exposed emerald green head and bright red eyes :) he looks like a jawfish. i got a few pictures of the red coris but since hes very skittish i had the zoom at 10x shooting from the kitchen so excuse the quality. the pictures are really dark but still show a decent representation of the metallic coloration of him. well as of right now wrasse v2.0 seems to be going better than i expected. i also added another 5.5 gallon fuge today to help with the pod decimation going on. anyways on with the pics!

I didn't realize the coloration on the back half was so much like the M. bipartitus. I want a pair;).

under halides the fish pop with authority. it could make a mc'coskers feel ugly in a beauty contest :)<~~~~steve
