I need a skimmer for new 125

I love mine (also on a 125). I wish I had the newer style beckett, but... It pulls some nasty thick goo.

cool what pump are you running?

PCX 55. It is a little loud, but not compared to other pumps of roughly the same size. Works like a champ, though.

well i kept trying to get a hold of the seller with no luck... but i found a mr-1 with a mag 12 for $180 shipped!

Hopefully i did not make a stupid move. what do you guys think of it on a 125?

It's kind of too late now but I would prefer an MR2 over an MR1...also becketts really need a pressure rated pump to get the most out of them which the mag is not. The Mag will also add ALOT of heat to the water...the pcx 55 adds some too but not as much. That said the MR 1 with the Mag should do fine and you would have a hard time finding something else that would do better for that price.

Hey fishdoc! what do you think of this. Maybe i can get rid of the Mag 12 and the Quiet One 3000 Pump which i was planning on using as the return and instead get an external pump that i can "T" off for the skimmer and return.

Do you think thats a good idea? What pump would you recommend?

I'm not really sure as I have never tried it. I would think dedicated pumps would probably be easier. I do know JBNY ran one Sequence pump for his return and skimmer and it worked pretty well but his system was quite a bit larger.

wow... forget it! i checked out some pricing on a powerful enough external pump. wayyy too expensive. I guess ill just give the mag 12 a shot.
