So I purchased this 40gl red sea tank from a Thuan Nguyen this year. If you ever see him selling things do NOT buy from him. He's a thief.... he sold me this rigged tank with missing parts as his girlfriends tank that was in good condition..... PER HIM HE SAID😔

In any case it must have also been cracked, because when I went and filled the tank up with water, it looked fine at first. So, I added water and watched my tank cycle, to get ready for the new sea horses. I started to notice this line in the back of my tank, but it didn't know what it was at first. At that time it was about 3"Ā long. So, I kept on watching it for a couple more days....during those days I noticed the crack kept on getting bigger, bigger, and bigger it was half way across my tank. It was rally fast....

I want to repair my tank, and I don't want to throw it away. I know I can fix it.
Can anyone please tell me how, and what I should do to fix my tank? If you can direct me to an excellent website with step by step direct. Or if some one can accost me with my matter please

Thanking you all in advance for your reply's. :bounce2::fish1:

You have a cracked panel? It's a pretty tough process better left to the pros, but until you find a solution drain the tank.

I know it looks like a tough presses, and thank you for replying. šŸ™‚ So are you saying there are people/ companies that do this and can fix my tank that you heard of??? Pls say yes😬

I added some pics so you can see how big it is. The salt trail is the crack, and it goes beyond it, it goes half way down the tank... I'm so sad/ upset....

Well a glass shop might be able to, ask your lfs but honestly it's probably cheaper to replace the tank.

The process of repairing a crack panel is more work then you will want if time is more important to you.

What is needed to replace a panel:
Tear down the tank.
Cut off all panels (silicon does not stick to old silicon. If you don’t you are 100% sure to end up with a leak anyways)
Clean and scrap all silicon panels
Buy about 10-15 silicon tube for the job (maybe more, maybe less)
Start adding silicon around the whole edge of each panel one at a time as you are going along. You’ll also need to work fast as you don’t want the silicon to start curing and having a skin on the outside before you get done with all the panels.
Make sure all panels at 90 degrees. (Won’t be easy) if all panels are in place and one moves, you could end up with bubbles in the silicon.
Using painters tape to hole all panels in place.
Smooth out all extra silicon seams.
Let cure for 48-72 hours.

Then...

Clean/scrap all extra silicon inside and outside of the tank
Reseal everything inside now and make a smooth and nice seal inside.
Let cure again for another 48-72 hours then water test outside for a few days.

If everything ends up good, you just fixed your tank. If not, start doing the sealing process all over again.

My honest opinion is that it’s not worth the time. Sell it as a reptile tank and buy a new one. LFS usually don’t repair nor do they know someone that does. You have to look for a place that builds custom aquariums as they are train and professionals certified to fix aquariums correctly. Keep the stand and buy a tank that fits your stand.
