I need ideas on feeding my reef lobster!

Hi all! I am new to the forum, but have had my tanks set up for a while. I have a Debelius reef lobster. Have had him for a while, and my brother in law had him for much longer. We have identified him as a fish assassin, and he has been moved to my sump. I have been feeding him with tongs, sometimes he will come out and eat, and sometimes he won't.

I would like to either make or purchase something that I can put krill in where I can leave it in the tank for an hour or so at a time for him to eat from it. Right now, if the krill comes loose from my tongs, it floats away and is hard to catch before leaving the sump to the DT. (Of course, my fish are happy to help eat the krill when this happens!)

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Be careful with Krill, it can cause lock-jaw with your fish, if feed on a regular basis. Go to your local supermarket and get a jumbo shrimp and cut into pieces and freeze. Unthaw when needed and take a small piece of rock and rubberband it and stick it in the sump.

Buy a really expensive show fish. He will eat it in no time!

But seriously, if he's in your sump, you probably don't even need to feed him at all. He will pick at detritus and be fine. I have a stone crab in my sump and he is growing like a weed. Gone from about the size of a dime to about the size of a golf ball now.

I didn't know that about the krill...
He's pretty big, I would say maybe 4"? He's molted a lot since we have gotten him, no doubt due to his fancy diet consisting of nice fish. We inherited him along with other headache inducers (not one but two haddoni carpets, the meanest maroon clowns I have ever seen, and a damsel) and because they have sentimental value to my husband and I, they all must stay here with us instead of the LFS. I will admit the lobster is quite amusing. He'll come out, notice us looking at him, and moonwalk back into his cave.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Any meaty chunks of seafood should do. You could take chunks of fish, shrimp, lobster, etc and clip or rubber band them at the end of an acrylic rod and stick it in the sump.
